taking comps tomorrow

Hi all,
I've been studying all weekend for the comps that I'm taking tomorrow for my grad program. I don't know why I'm so nervous. I spent forever preparing, writing out what I might want to say in my essays etc. The one thing I should have done that I didn't do was I didn't ask for the day off from work. So I'll be teaching tomorrow, then going to the testing center to take a 4 hour exam which starts at 4:30. 4 questions in 4 hours typed. I guess I just needed to tell someone who hasn't been listening to me be nervous for the past 2 weeks. I can't wait for tomorrow to be over. I need all the positive thoughts I can get!

I've been there and done that. You'll do well. You're prepared. Just take a deep breath and have confidence in yourself. You'll have an immense feeling of relief and accomplishment when it's all over.

Comps

You seem well prepared and you will do great! Try not to be too nervous, but I know that is easier said than done. Good Luck! I'll be sending positive thoughts your way. ;)

Oh, vateacher...

...are you sure it's too late to call in sick??? How are you ever going to have the energy to take a 4-hour exam after teaching?! I'm worried about you, but I know you will be fine!

Good luck and make sure you eat something right before taking the test!<!--leaves_fall-->

Thanks everyone! Oh and Bethany even if I did call in sick I would still have to write sub plans which would really add to the stress more than anything else. But it's ok. I am leaving school an hour early (thanks to my understanding principal) so I'll have about 2 hours between school and test time to clear my mind, get in the right mindset and eat a snack. Anyway thanks for listening to me and giving your support. <!--lovestruck-->

Best of luck to you!

I remember my comps, and I took them quite awhile ago! The important thing is to watch your time and to make sure you answer every question that is required. I was also very nervous because my program prepared us very poorly for taking them, and it was a lot of researching and studying answers on my own. There was one woman in my study group whose written language skills were pretty poor, and we had a lot of fears for her, but even she passed them. I don't know of anyone who didn't, and I'm sure you'll do great. You're prepared, and we'll be looking for your post about how you passed them in the future. Good luck to you!<!--misspeak-->
