I think I might have read exerpts or heard them on Book TV. I have read Angela's Ashes as well as 'Tis. I've read some scraps of his memoirs of his teaching years probably exerpted in a teacher mag. I also read his brother's memoir about being a partying semi-celebrity in NYC. One of these days I'll surely read this book. Maybe when it's in paperback or when I finally make it to the public library again (like next summer).
Thanks for letting me know that the book is so good. I bought it, but it is in the pile for next year. I will probably start it on Monday... any other books you can suggest ?
I am definitely interested in reading this book, but I probably will wait until it comes out in paperback. Maybe we can try a reader's circle or discussion then. What do you think?
All four of my stomachs are aquiver at the though of discussing this book. Other teachers have told me this is great. I think we will al enjoy chewing the cud over this book.
I enjoyed the second half of the book much more than the beginning. Granted his first few risky days were interesting, I got bored until he got past to the recipes and such. I didn't really need to know about the attempt at his own higher education.
