Things Have Changed!!!

Where is everybody???? The mods say that nothing has changed, but they're wrong! Nobody is posting anymore? So many threads have only one or two replies, whereas they once would have had many. Don't be afraid of the new forum! It's much easier, user friendly, and (dare I say) up to date than the old board! (which I also posted on, so don't give me a hard time!)

I don't know why there seem to be fewer posts. Before the switch there were tons of people posting, especially on the vent board (there is always something to vent about, particularly parents and their foibles). I was wondering if people think they have to register and don't want to give up their anonymity and are staying about because they don't understand that you don't have to sign up.

Ok, let's count!!

The last 30 threads (new posts) on the old VENT board received 181 replies

The last 30 threads on the NEW VENT board received 218 replies

And the winner is.....

The NEW VENT BOARD!!

But wait... it's not quite that simple...

The OLD Vent board received those 30 threads over a 7 day period, while the NEW Vent board received those 30 threads over a 10 day period. That means there have been about 1.29 fewer new topics per day on the NEW Vent board.

But wait... there's some good news....

The OLD Vent board received 21 of its 181 replies after we switched to the NEW Vent board. This means the old VENT board received only 160 replies during those 10 days.

So, on average the numbers look like this:

Old VENT board: 22.86 replies per day
NEW VENT board: 21.8 replies per day + 2 replies on OLD Vent board

So, as far as the VENT board is concerned, the numbers of posts haven't changed much at all.

Lounge Board Math!

Ok, let's see how we're doing on the Teachers' Lounge....

The last 30 threads (new posts) on the old Lounge board received 272 replies
The last 30 threads on the new Lounge board received 172 replies

oh oh.... but it's not quite that simple...

The OLD Lounge board received those 30 threads over an 11 day period, while the NEW Lounge board received those 30 threads over a 9 day period. That means there have actually been a few more new topics posted per day on average on the new Lounge board.

Also, 44 of the 272 replies on the OLD Lounge board were posted after the switch. So, the numbers look like this:

Old Lounge board: 20.7 replies per day
NEW Lounge board: 19.11 replies per day + 4.88 replies per day on the old Lounge board

So, in truth, posting is up a tiny bit on the Lounge Boards during this big transition! Of course, we'd like to see more! Whew! Too much counting!

Never been good at math

Math has never been my strong suit but it does seem like something's missing. I'm either not seeing some of the old regulars or just not seeing things I want to respond to. I read a lot of the posts but don't seem to respond as much myself

New Look is Deceiving

I think that the new look of the boards makes us beleive that there are less postings since we don't see each post title under the main topic.
I also have been by daily to read but haven't found much that I care to reply to.
I do like the new boards especially that I can post in color, change the fonts, and have the avatar to identify me! I think if all us regulars keep reading and keep posting it will encourage the visitors to do the same. After all, what teacher would not enjoy such well managed friendly boards?!
