Traffic Lights for behaviour

Yesterday I found a page on the internet about traffic lights for behaviour. They used paper plates and had pegs around them. Does anyone know how to make them? We only started back at school last week and I have a very chatty group so thought I would give this a go. I know I could use circles and colours but this had pegs with each childs name and you obviously moved them from one light to another. Any ideas welcome.

what about?

What about making a paper stoplight and laminating it. Put each childs name on a magnet and you can move them. Of course, this would depned on whether or not you have a magnetic chalkboard to attach it to.

pegs

Make the light out of three different colored paper plates. The pegs are probably clothespins-the spring type. Write each child's name on a clothespin with marker. Start all the pins on green every day. Then when a child is getting noisy, move his/her pin down to the yellow one.

Or you could do this as a whole class. They make traffic lights that change colors as noise levels go up. I think they are called yacker trackers.

Here's another website on this topic.

I am a student teacher in second grade and my cooperating teacher uses this. She simply cut out 3 circles in red, yellow and green and laminated into a stop sign. She pit each child's name on a clothespin. Each behavior that is disruptive she moves it up, once they reach red they lose 5 minutes of play. It seems to work for most of the children, but there are the select few that don't really care!! Try it! K

Yacker Tracker

I have a Yacker Tracker that I don't want anymore. I have only used it a couple of times.

Yacker Tracker

Does anyone know if Yacker Trackers are available in Australia? We have a 240volts power system.
Thanks

I use a stoplight system. I just made mine out of construction paper and poster board and then I tape [or you could velcro] the names on. I put my kids names on little red octagons [stop signs]. It reminds them that they need to "stop" whatever behavior they were doing that made them have to move their color.

Our traffic light system goes along with the 1-2-3 Magic behavior plan. A child gets a simple warning when behavior is getting out of line - clothespin moved to green. If the child gets a second warning, it's moved to yellow. When the 3rd warning comes, the child needs to take 5 out of the learning environment to get the behavior back in control. When the child returns, the clothespin is set back to the beginning and s/he gets a fresh start.
