DH and I are watching the news and a lawyer representing a 6 year old girl that survived the Sandy Hill Elementary shooting is suing the school system for not providing a safe school environment. A HUNDRED million dollar lawsuit!!! Really? How sad for the parents of that young lady, there are parents that lost their precious children who would pay a million dollars to have their children back.

I know it says that it is not about the money but improving school safety but it is just too soon for that non sense and in poor taste!

-- This is just my opinion.

The should be ashamed.

Actually it is $100,000,000.00 and I agree someone wants a payday.:mad: I don't understand where a safe school environment comes from? No school is safe, no matter what is done or how many armed individuals there are. People have no common sense on this subject. I will say again and again, all someone has to do is sit on a rooftop and pick of anyone in/out of the school. Going in, leaving, or at recess. Pull the fire alarm and you have sitting ducks walking outside without any defense.

I hope this suit is tossed right out of court, with the parents and their lawyer having to pay all court costs including the plaintives [sp].

I agree

I think it would be easier to understand if it was one of the parents who lost their child. Even if a child needed physcological (sp?)help, it wouldn't cost their parents 100 million.

Shooting Lawsuit

(I have referenced religion, with no offense meant to anyone...thank you for understanding)

I would like to give the parents of this child the benefit of the doubt and admit that they may possibly think a lawsuit is the only way to spur real action and change. Hopefully this is the reason they are suing...

No matter the reason, they need to sit down with their daughter, brush her hair, sing her songs, play games with her and thank God for the grace He covered her with on that day.

I would also like to add that, while it is disturbing and unfortunate that students had to have heard the messages on that intercom, those messages saved countless lives.

So sorry that the parents of the little ones will have to endure this on top of what they already had and will go through....I feel for their souls and their hearts. I cannot imagine the grief and absolute pain they are enduring. ♥ God be with Newtown.

Seems to me that the school did follow good safety procedures. The jacka$$ had to break a window to get in. The teachers went into lock down mode. The office turned the intercom on for all to hear what was going on. The first ones killed were the front office people who were confronting him. I don't think the suit has any chance.

That's exactly what it is about. Someone saw an opportunity and is jumping on it.

I agree with timeforbed. The school did have procedures in place. If somebody is determined, they'll do what they want no matter what. It's really those less determined and more easily deterred that we need to protect against.

These parents need to think. If they are awarded this ridiculous sum of money (which a previous poster pointed out is WAY more than counseling would cost), they are only hurting tax payers and other students down the road. Where do they think this money will come from? It would be paid by tax payers or taken from school budgets. How safe do they think our schools will be if we keep cutting?

lawsuit

Hopefully, they will deem this as a frivilous lawsuit. Therefore, the kid would not only have to pay his lawyer's fees but the state of Connecticut lawyer's fees.

creepy

of them, one hundred million dollars, as if the school and the town hasn't been through enough already... it is another layer to the sickness that dwells in some hearts. Thanks for informing me.

This makes my heart hurt all over again because those parents who are suing are so incredibly lucky to have their daughter... Like pp said, I bet every single one of those families who lost a family member, child or not, would pay 100 million to get them back.

Exactly. Where will this money come from? TAXPAYERS! The same money that could be used to improve security.

Anyhow, they are lucky they have their child. Anyone can shoot through a window anywhere. It just happened to be at Sandy Hook School on that dreaded Friday.

Personally, I think they are doing it to cash in. That amount of money is not necessary to help a child emotionally/psychologically. These people are lucky to have their child. I hope for their sake their names remain anonymous because this could anger a lot of people.

It also says that the child heard shooting and screaming over the intercom, but the lawyer wasn't sure if the child saw anyone die. If the child only heard over the intercom what happened, so did every other child in the school.

The article also says it's not about the money. It's about making schools safe. Ha! Are they going to donate the $100 million to the schools for safety? Yeah, right. Like we've said, anyone can shoot through a window. Sandy Hook was far safer than many schools.
