WHY the Grinch Stole Christmas

Okay, I just know all the teachers will know about this!

Years ago, my family and I watched a TV version of the Grinch, waaaayyy before Jim Carey. It was the cartoon, and was WHY the Grinch stole Christmas, not HOW. He reflected back on why he was so mean, and thought about his dear mom, who had died when he was young. He was crying, and looked into a pool of his tears and saw her reflection. It was the same cartoon Grinch, but a different story.

Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about or what it was called??

I always thought he stole Christmas because his heart was two sizes too small...sorry I can't be of any help...did you try and Google it? That might yield some results...good luck!

My school librarian has a copy of a Grinch videotape that I didn't recognize, and I think it may be the one you are talking about. We special teachers eat lunch in the library, and sometimes I scan the videos. It seems like the narrator was Walter Matthau (waaaay before Grumpy Old Men ). Now I'm curious, and if I think of it, I'll look it over today.

I remember the cartoon that you are describing. I just can't remember it's name!!!! It showed the grinch running around town being mean and then finally he thinks about why he is so mean. I think the cat in the hat is trying to be his friend, but refuses too after the grinch is so mean.

The Grinch grinches the cat in the hat , is what it may be called.

It's not Grinch Night. Grinch Night is about Halloween. It's also called Halloween is Grinch Night.
